Conventional end joints are the weak link in the rigors of daily logging operations.

Whether due to rope sliders catching during assortment retrieval or accidental pulling against the rope inlet—the aluminum press sleeve is often subjected to stress from the rear.

The Problem: The 50%-Trap

Aluminum press-fit connectors are not designed to withstand rearward loads. They can deform or break even when subjected to half the permissible tensile force—a serious safety hazard in the event of sudden blockages or if the rope is accidentally pulled against the winch’s rope inlet.

Our „IronBack“- thimble eliminates this weak point. Thanks to intelligent force redistribution, the rear load is transferred directly to the reinforced thimble and the rope eye.

Full load capacity: The end connection can now withstand the maximum tensile force of your forestry winch even when loaded from the rear.
Protection of the material: No more damaged or crushed press sleeves caused by rope sliders or the rope running over them.
Durability: By consistently using hauling chains or choker ropes, it is no longer necessary to secure the load with the winch’s main rope, resulting in less wear on the main rope. The winch rope no longer needs to be shortened and needs to be replaced much less frequently. This saves both time and money.
With a new rope: When purchasing a new winch rope, the forestry rope dealer can press the Iron-Back thimble into place using their DIN-press. Ask your forestry rope specialist for more information.

Efficiency and ergonomics: Using the sorting method, multiple log sections can now be moved simultaneously in a single pass—safely, without straining the rope, and without damaging the compression. This saves effort and reduces the distance traveled.

Flexible and secure mounting option: Even with the chain trap installed, a shackle can be inserted into the eye of the Iron-Back thimble without tools; during rope-assisted felling, this shackle connects the Dyneema tree-hauling rope to the winch rope.
Maximum workplace safety: The design also serves as effective hand protection. It prevents hands from coming into contact with the dangerous area of the rope inlet or sharp edges of the rope guides if the rope is accidentally pulled in.
